So we kind of almost have this figured out

All right, just to remind mainly me, here are the edits made to the R&J plot:

This is no longer a stage production, but has the APH characters representing the Shakespearean characters. I don't know if we are going to use the original text or not.

Mercutio - Francis Bonnefoy (France, open)

Gregory, Sampson, Peter - Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia (all are open except for Liet)
Nurse - Ludwig (Germany, Tiger)
Tybalt - Gilbert Beilschmidt (Prussia, me)
Paris - Still being decided (probably Austria)
Prince Escalus - Feliciano Vargas (Italy, open)
Friar Lawrence - Ivan Braginski (Russia, open)

So, really, all we need to figure out who's playing the characters that do not belong to anyone, and other little things like if we're using the original text. I suggest we just use the play as a reference for dialogue so the plot moves along, but there should still be a lot of leeway since we need plot modifications anyway.

There are some parts of the dialogue that I really think are awesome (such as almost everything the Nurse says and Mercutio's curse on the Montagues and Capulets) but other parts that would be unwieldy in a rp setting.

I'll take Italy for the purposes of this plot simply because I love roleplaying his exuberance.

All right. I wouldn't mind trying to RP France; just be warned that I've never actually roleplayed him and may fail miserably. xD Maybe Russia and the two younger Baltics) can be universal. What about Benvolio?

I've roleplayed France before and it's kind of difficult, so don't worry about failing. xD That sounds good. Benvolio is more or less Romeo's loser-y friend; does England have any loser-y friends?

... He really doesn't have any friends at all. o:

Here's a thought: we could rethink, and have Austria as Capulet with Hungary as Lady Capulet. For the house of Montague, we could probably cut the parents; they don't really have as big as a role as the Capulets, anyway. Spain and Romano could be Abram and Balthazar, and we'd have America as Paris, since some people in fandom like to portray him, Japan, and England as a love triangle. I don't know, that's just a thought.

Yes, I think America would make a better Paris. He would be an annoying one rather than a serious one. xD

All of those ideas are good and we should go with them. When I read that I started laughing because it was just such an odd idea. Love it.

Okay, I think we're pretty much done with casting now. There's Rosaline, I personally never thought she was that important to the play, and wouldn't really tie in to England's character well. I guess this leaves Canada behind to be Benvolio; he might be good considering that the both of them are kind of pacifists and perhaps just a little dorky.

Rosaline doesn't even appear, so we can just remove her from the plot defenestrate her. England can be depressed for some other random reason because he's England. Canada definitely channels the Benvolio spirit, and Benvolio is kind of overlooked in the play because everyone else is more important and noticeable.

So, I guess we can start now. I figure we can just divide the threads by the acts--this way we can skip through scenes without getting off track later. I'm probably going to use my copy as a reference, so I'll be able to use important quotes. I'll get started on the Act I thread, unless you would like to.

Sure. You can do it. I'll be looking up the script as we go along, too, albeit online instead of in my own copy. This is so exciting!
