In theater, a cast of a play is called a "company". The company is usually announced through e-mail or phone call nowadays. Since, unfortunately, our characters don't have the opportunity to audition, we are going to determine a cast list right here and now.
And for all we know, since this is still a very rough idea, we may get rid of some of the minor characters, like Abram. However, every character has an an important role in the story, and there is a large cast.
Here is the list of characters in Romeo and Juliet, and my thoughts for their characters:
House of Capulet
Capulet (Juliet's father, patriarch of the House of Capulet) - TBD
Lady Capulet (Juliet's mother, matriarch of the House of Capulet) - TBD
Gregory, Sampson, and Peter (servants) - TBD
Juliet (daughter, female protagonist) - TBD
Nurse (Juliet's nurse and caretaker) - TBD
Tybalt (Juliet's cousin) - TBD
House of Montague
Montague (Romeo's father, patriarch to the house of Montague) - TBD
Lady Montague (Romeo's mother, matriarch to the house of Capulet) - TBD
Romeo (son, male protagonist) - TBD
Benvolio (the cousin, and friend, of Romeo) - TBD
Abram and Balthazar (servants) - TBD
Ruling house of Verona
Prince Escalus (ruling prince of Verona) - TBD
Count Paris (kinsman of the prince, wishes to marry Juliet) - TBD
Mercutio (kinsman of the prince, Romeo's friend) - TBD
Others
Friar Lawrence (friar, Romeo's confidant) - TBD
It would be funny to see the Baltic Trio as Gregory, Sampson, and Peter, but any will do. Prussia should probably be Tybalt...not that I have anything against him, Tybalt is just a jerk. Maybe Alfred could be Mercutio. As for Balthazar, well, he's important because he's the one who tells Romeo that Juliet has died (which she hasn't.)
Discuss.
